What the number means
Reconstitution is dissolving a lyophilized (freeze-dried) solid back into a liquid. The mass in the vial does not change when the diluent goes in, so the concentration is that mass divided by the volume added. A 10 mg vial taken up in 2 mL is 5 mg/mL; the same vial in 5 mL is 2 mg/mL.
Micrograms and milligrams are the same measurement at different scales: 1 mg is 1,000 mcg. Both are shown because certificates of analysis and specification tables do not consistently use one or the other.
